dc.description.abstractGod suffers from no limitation. He cannot be reduced to one form, one name or one attribute. He is present in everyone and everything. Divine incarnations similarly are but an expression of His omniscience. The notion of incarnation is central to most religions, especially Eastern spiritual traditions. Problems arise when one incarnation is granted exclusivity over others. This leads to narrow mindedness, sectarianism and division. It is important to respect all traditions and all incarnations but it is important to follow the path indicated by the spiritual preceptor. The preceptor will prescribe the path most suitable for the aspirant by taking into account the aspirant's background, aspirations and aptitude.
