dc.description.abstract | What is the root cause of all misery? All spiritual masters affirm the solemn truth that the root causes of unhappiness lie in our ability to control our minds. This is the primary reason. The mind as Sadguru Sri Sharavana Baba reminds us comes before everything else including God. It is therefore important to control the mind because it governs our daily conduct. It is in this context that Swami Satyananda’s three principles help us connect to our higher energies. If we are able to follow them diligently, we will be able to successfully tap into those energies. Happiness cannot result from the undivided pursuit of material goods alone. Divine Grace is equally needed. According to Swami Satyananda, it is important to practise being a Hindu.
