Title: | Sacrifice lies at the core of spirituality | Authors: | Narayanswamy, Ramnath | Keywords: | Spirituality | Issue Date: | 13-Oct-2016 | Publisher: | The Printers Mysore Private Limited | Abstract: | What lies at the core of Hindu spiritual tradition? Unfulfilled desires in previous births and actions committed in ignorance in our past are responsible for our birth in this world. The correct word is karma. It is therefore our karmas that are directly responsible for our birth. These karmas can be positive if they stem from positive actions promoting harmony and negative if they have resulted in creating disharmony. A Mahatma or a Guru enters our life precisely in order to instruct us in the performance of our karmas. In performing that role, the Mahatma epitomises the principle of sacrifice. He is its living personification. As Sri Babuji expressed it: “A sacrifice a Mahatma makes has great significance and merit than physical sacrifice. For the service of humanity he comes out of seclusion by forsaking his state of absolute bliss.” Read more at: https://www.deccanherald.com/content/575512/sacrifice-lies-core-spirituality.html | Description: | Deccan Herald, Bangalore, 13-10-2016 | URI: | https://repository.iimb.ac.in/handle/2074/13559 |
