dc.description.abstractIn the early European societies babies were wrapped in “swaddling bands”, which were strips of linen orwool. In Elizabethan times, babies were treated to a fresh diaper only every few days.In Native Americantribes, mothers packed grass under a diaper cover made of rabbit skin. In warm tropical climatesmothers used to keep the babies naked anticipating baby’s bowel movements to avoid mess in thehouse.
