dc.description.abstract | The success of Google, Facebook, PayPal etc. have given a brand new recognition to the phenomenon called Entrepreneurship. This field has taken a huge leap with the success of a few companies. It has further been fuelled by the extensive use of Internet and introduction of new technologies such as Ajax, Java, Ruby on Rails etc. One of the major emphasis of entrepreneurship over the last decade has been web based products and services and a number of successful ventures have emerged in that domain. Most of these companies were conceptualised and formed in Silcon Valley in the US. These included companies like Amazon, Google, Yahoo, Facebook, Youtube and many more. Most of these have companies have valuations in billions of dollars, much higher than a lot of product companies with worldwide networks. Entrepreneurship in India, by that comparison, is quite recent. Web based ventures, among those, are even more recent. India has also seen a few success stories with the likes of Naukri, Make My Trip etc. but anything of the scale of Google or Facebook is yet to be seen. The trends in old times have been that experienced people get into opening their ventures when they get bored of their routine jobs, however, recently a lot of people can be seen opening their ventures fresh out of college or after a brief job stint. | |
